This project aims to enhance health and environmental conditions in Southeast Asia by establishing biostatistics master's and PhD programs in the Philippines and Indonesia. It addresses the local demand for biostatisticians to tackle public health issues like Dengue and environmental challenges such as degradation. The project, aligning with Agenda 2030 and SDGs, focuses on inclusive education and research, promoting multi-stakeholder partnerships between universities and government organisations. Key activities include training 5 PhD students from partner universities, organising workshops, and facilitating academic exchanges. Outcomes include disseminating scientific findings to vulnerable people, awarding joint PhD degrees, and launching the Biostatistics Interest Group for Southeast Asia (BIGSEA), which links to global biometrics communities. The project fosters both multi-institutional and non-academic collaborations, enhancing data transfer and stakeholder engagement.
