General

BE2022ITP243B101 01/01/2023 - 31/12/2025 This project seeks to bring diverse specialisations together in a competence training center and innovation hub, tailored to East-Africa and especially for Tanzania and Zanzibar situation and societal problems. This hub, in turn, will deliver a hybrid engineer who has in-depth knowledge in all different aspects and can connect these parts into a useful and commercially viable system. At the same time, the ITP will focus on real-life applications of IoT and AI, operational deployment and business cases, to break away from the theory and give way to practical applications. This way we promote economic vitality and provide opportunities for lifelong technical education and connect companies to create an innovation hub at Karume Institute of Science & Technology. The ambition to tackle these challenges are stipulated in the industrialisation agenda of the Tanzanian Government. The project aims to fulfil the needs of an I(O)T engineer and to provide better skills matching. These aims will be met by delivering short intensive courses, establishing technology laboratories, increase accessibility for the professional field and students and providing training in the university innovation hub to encourage entrepreneurship. The impact on the short term is increased technological and pedagogic knowledge, increased operational capacity, increase in I(O)T engineering students and a better cooperation with local industry. On the long term, the project aims at an increase in employability, in added value produced locally, sustained life-ling-learning and long-term high-quality knowledge gain in technology. With the implementation of our competence center in I(O)T and innovation hub we increase the number of people with relevant practical skills for employment and decent jobs, financial success and entrepreneurship.
