GO2024ITP261B122 01/09/2024 - 31/08/2027 This capacity building program will be delivered by Erasmushogeschool Brussels (Bachelor Midwifery lecturers) in collaboration with JOOUST (Bachelor Nursing/Midwifery lecturers). It will be a modular skills-based training offered through blended approach. Target: Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) Trainers of Trainers (TOTs), Lecturers and Mentors working in Kisumu, Siaya and Kakamega Counties. Objective: To strengthen the capacity to provide Simulation Based Learning (medium fidelity) and enhance delivery of sustainable critical lifesaving interventions. Methodology: The program will be offered in three tracks and will adopt the Kenya Quality Model of Health (KQMH) Continuous quality improvement model of Plan- Do- Check cycle. ·Phase 1: Master trainers - Lecturers predominantly from JOOUST (and optionally also from Masinde Muliro University and Maseno University) ·Phase 2: Training of Trainers (TOTs) and Mentors (from counties Kisumu, Siaya and Kakamega) ·Phase 3: Practical’s / Project execution – TOTs and Mentors provide onsite training and mentorship to Midwifery students, Professional Midwives and Nurses. The modular, skills-based training model will strengthen the capacity of TOTs, Mentors and Mentees through simulation-based learning blended with real experience within work setting and improve institutional capacity, thereby strengthen health systems through health workforce capacity building. The training will have a component of monitoring and evaluation (M&E and continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiative.
