General

PH2022SIN351A103 01/09/2022 - 31/08/2024 The highly fluctuating, waste-producing and calamity-prone agriculture sector in Southern Leyte, the Eastern Visayas, Philippines resulted in growing interest on fish farming as alternative for food security and revenue gain. However, from previous findings of our extension program, it is learned that efficient fish production by small-scale fish farmers is primarily hampered by the on-and-off and high cost of aquafeeds, disabling production of competitively-priced farmed fish. To aid this, the proposed multi-collaborated project “ISDA” will look into interventions to produce cheap, locally-available and nutrient-rich aquafeeds. The findings are anticipated to add value aligned with the priorities of the Philippine Sustainable Development Goals including no poverty (SDG1), zero hunger (SDG2), decent work (SDG8), gender equality (SDG5), responsible consumption and production (SDG12), climate action (SDG13) and protection of life below water (SDG14).
