The government of Democratic Republic of Congo has decided to switch the higher education system to the so-called “LMD” (licence – master – doctorat). This concerns both public and private universities. To facilitate this change, the University of Kisangani (UNIKIS) has decided to help its educational partners (academics, scientists, administrators and mainly students) mastering ICT tools, important teaching instruments, becoming even essential in the LMD system. Indeed, most students who come and start their first year at UNIKIS come from secondary schools in very disadvantaged areas (no electricity, no Internet) where the use of computers remains a dream. Similarly, there is no requirement for computer literacy among ESU (Enseignement Supérieur et Universitaire) teachers and administrators. This is why the UNIKIS wishes to fill this gap in ICT skills through specific basic training of the university actors in order to enhance the study success rate in the LMD system.
