The FANTASHRIMP project is designed to address the multifaceted issues confronting shrimp farming in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta (VMD). With a focus on water pollution, elevated greenhouse gas emissions, and the implications of climate change (CC), the project adopts a multidimensional approach. Through innovative research methodologies, we seek to gain better understanding of the amplifying feedback loop between shrimp farming and CC via their environmental impacts. This novel insight will serve as the foundation for the development of sustainable solutions that mitigate the environmental footprint of shrimp farming, thus fostering ecological and climate resilience in the VMD. This project stimulates collaboration across diverse sectors, bringing together local experts, farmers, inhabitants and authorities. By promoting knowledge exchange and translation into actionable policies and practices, FANTASHRIMP aspires to create transformative impacts on shrimp farming beyond the Mekong.
