General

Developmental overall objective (benefits for the society): Irrigation engineers are trained, highly qualified to expand and improve irrigation and micro-irrigation systems in compliance with the Bolivian Poverty Reduction Strategy, the National Plan of Development, the National Irrigation Plan, and the National Plan for Climate Change Adaptation. Academic overall objective (related to the capacity building of the university): Performance of public universities in the conductance of Master programmes is strengthened and improved.

Results

Specific development objective : Capacity of irrigation project designers is improved, to meet the highly reported needs to have technically feasible, socio-politically accepted, and environmentally sustainable irrigation projects. Specific academic objective : High quality and sustainable Master programme in Irrigation engineering is developed, and strong additional experience with Master training is built up (in an expertise domain that is of key importance for the country; through extensive support of local municipalities, communities, social organisations, governmental institutions and international cooperation bodies actively involved in the sector).
