General

The academic overall objective is to improve on the research and training of students and staff from the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of UYI and the Faculty of Health Sciences of UB.. The developmental overall objective is the improvement of the quality of health care for diabetes in Cameroon through the implementation of the National Diabetes Programme by the VLIR project in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and in the Sub-Saharan region by making use of the proposed cost-effective model for diabetes registries within the VLIR project.

Results

The specific academic objective of the project is to enhance research and training in diabetes in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Specialities of UYI as the main center and the department of Medical Laboratory Science of UB. The specific developmental objective consists in making available the results and recommendations for health policy formulation and decision-making in the region and for the implementation of the National Diabetes Program.
