- Academic overall objective: Improve the education and research at PhD level in veterinary sciences on site in Ethiopia. - Developmental overall objective: Improve the contribution of the livestock sector to the national economy by reducing losses in the livestock population through improved knowledge/training in animal health, food safety and international hygienic standards

- Specific academic objectives: Strengthen the recently established PhD program in Veterinary Public Health for veterinary students at AAU in Ethiopia. - Specific developmental objectives: Support to the higher educational structure within Ethiopia which will prevent brain drain, will increase national critical (scientific) mass and leverage for scientific projects and finally will improve the institutional service to the local community.
