General

Rice, coffee and cocoa sectors in Indonesia are resilient, sustainable, and inclusive, contributing to a living income for producers and agribusiness entrepreneurs, including women and youth, while increasing the availability of sustainably produced food products on the market. This programme will contribute to JSG #3 on Economic Justice in the JSF Indonesia 2022-2026: “CSOs contribute to a comprehensive agenda of economic justice towards promoting sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship.” The programme outcome is that the rice, coffee, and cocoa sectors in Indonesia are resilient, sustainable, and inclusive, contributing to a living income for producers and agribusiness entrepreneurs, including women and youth, while increasing the availability of sustainably produced food products on the market. The programme will promote change in 3 interrelated domains: (1) Sustainable Production Base (SPB): Rice, coffee and cocoa production are more environmentally, socially and economically sustainable. The productivity, incomes and (climate) resilience of smallholder farmers will be increased by their adoption of smart sustainable production models and practices that enable them to meet market standards for quality and sustainability and make them more resilient to climate change. (2) Market Inclusion (MI): Resilient FOs/SMEs including marginalized groups i.e., women, youth and smallholders actively participate in inclusive market. Smallholder farmers and SMEs, including women and youth, will access decent profits through Inclusive Business (IB) models and relationships with key actors. Private chain actors will gain improved access to reliable supplies of quality sustainable products. (3) Enabling environment (EE): Better governance of the rice, coffee, and cocoa sectors. Inclusive MSH platforms will enable key stakeholders to play an effective role in promoting sustainable and equitable development. National and local governments as well as private actors will develop more conducive policies and well-designed targeted support programmes, e.g., appropriate financing schemes.
