General
We pursue that coffee and cocoa sector in Honduras achieve a more resilient, sustainable and inclusive production, aimed at reducing the gap in living income. The 2022-2026 program proposes three pillars: 1. Sustainable coffee and cocoa production. Diversified production systems with innovative climate-smart practices. i) Development of field schools, demonstration plots, visits to experimental centers; ii) talks with specialists on standards and exchange tours to learn about quality and safety systems; iii) based on ScopeInsight assessment, participatory formulation of improvement plans to strengthen weak areas and, within the framework of IWA 29 application of AMEA tools for professionalizing POs facilitating coordination with service and finance providers. 2. Inclusive Markets. Improve participation of POs in markets with a win-win approach and strengthen the supply chain of their buyers. i) facilitate inclusive trade relations by accompanying the identification of differentiated value propositions, between "Pacayal Coffee and Cafes Dagobert", "CAFESCOR and International Trading Co"; "RAOS and CARUCHIL with Sustainable Harvest" for coffee. And in cocoa between Chocolats Halba and 9 cocoa POs. ii) technical assistance in formulating business plans and coaching for entrepreneurship (young people, women) (Ecommerce, digital intelligence, etc.). 3. Enabling Environment. Promote joint and aligned work to implement policies and strategies for inclusive and sustainable development. i) integrate financial actors and provide to them attractive proposals for the creation of products according to the needs of POs and enterprises; ii) strengthen and support platforms to promote practices, strategies and policies for sustainability and inclusiveness, reducing migration; iii) generate proposals based on the needs of POs to improve their participation in multi-stakeholder platforms. Knowledge management is cross-cutting. The coffee and cocoa sectors in Honduras are more resilient, sustainable and inclusive, helping to generate a decent income for farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs, including women and youth, while increasing the availability of sustainably produced food.
