General

The coffee and cocoa sectors in Ecuador are more resilient, sustainable and inclusive, helping to generate a living income for agricultural producers and entrepreneurs, including women and youth while increasing the availability of sustainable food products. Sustainable agricultural production: innovative practices will be promoted to improve productivity, with training and quality management processes; the capacities of the POs' technicians will be strengthened to promote the implementation of diversified production systems; in addition to the main crop (coffee and cocoa), we will encourage the cultivation of crops that contribute to food security and the generation of complementary incomes; organizations will be supported to manage quality coffee and cocoa production, in accordance with the standards of the international and local markets. The professionalization of POs will be evaluated, and improvement plans will be developed to contribute to better PO management and prepare them to offer better services and market conditions. Inclusive Markets: the POs will strengthen their inclusive commercial relations through the co-creation of businesses, with differentiated value proposals, capacity building and advisory services for business initiatives, agribusinesses and enterprises owned by young people and women, who will use efficient technologies and processes that will add value to their enterprises and promote short marketing circuits, also encouraging a greater offer in their organizations. Inclusive business models will be documented and shared in multi-stakeholder spaces. Enabling Environments: Access to viable financial services and other non-financial PO services will be promoted; multi-stakeholder platforms will be strengthened and supported to design, generate and influence the development of public policies, strategies and national plans that contribute to the sustainability and inclusiveness of the sectors. To fulfill these activities and contribute to the generation of decent income and strengthen resilience, we will coordinate with POs, public, private and financial sectors, companies, the academy, NGOs and sector organisations.
