Young people, aged 15 to 25, living in vulnerable conditions, develop their competences to integrate themselves both professionally and socially thanks to an empowerment process led by Vocational Training Centres, Job Services Offices and Planning and Development Offices in Tanzania The aim of our programme (PRG) in Tanzania is to empower boys and girls (aged 15 to25), so they can find their place in the world of work and contribute to the communities to which they belong. To reach this goal, we are active in vocational training and skills development. VIA Don Bosco believes in the unique power of integral training and education to help young people grow both professionally and personally. In order to reach this objective, we have established qualitative partnerships with several organisations. In Tanzania, we collaborate with 3 Vocational Training Centres (VTC), 1 Teacher Training College (TTC) and 1 Job Services Office (JSO) that coordinates the local Explorer Job Service Offices (EJSO) of each VTC and the TTC to offer qualitative training and skills development, and to guide students to the world of work. Moreover, we work with 1 Planning and Development Office (PDO) to coordinate the PRG locally, and organise capacity development activities for the VTCs, TTC and JSO. These partnerships are crucial for the VIA Don Bosco programmes to succeed. To reach the social and professional integration of young people, we coach our partner organisations to reach 4 results: • Improving the quality of education, through capacity building of personnel, updating study programmes and adapting equipment and infrastructure. • Strengthening management capacities (finances, human resources, and knowledge management) of the VTCs/TTC, JSO and PDO and aspects of sustainability (financial, institutional, environmental, technical and social) • Guidance of students by the JSO towards the world of work (employment or self-employment). For this, the JSO establishes alliances with companies, organises internships and prepares students for their first professional experiences (paying special attention to life skills). • Increasing social inclusion in our VTCs/TTC through support, advocacy, adaptation of the learning environment and awareness raising.
