General

Belgian decision-makers at all policy levels (Belgium, EU, international institutions) implement policies regarding foodsystems, resources and human rights and international humanitarian law, that contribute to systemic change and that pay particular attention to the rights of women, children and youth. Through lobby and advocacy we influence Belgian decision-makers towards policies that support the political demands and enforce the rights of our partner organizations and their target groups. We aim to correct existing power imbalances at all levels and defend and protect human rights defenders and the space for civil society in our partner countries. The ultimate goal is the realization of all basis rights by the targetgroups without crossing planetary boundaries. In order to achieve these goals we deepen our expertise in 4 domains: foodsystems, resources, human rights and international humanitarian law (special focus on DRCongo and Palestine-Israel) and the overarching domain of systemic change. Based on the prioirities, expertise and imaterials of our partners, we provide reliable information on rights violations to policy makers and offer them sound alternatives to consider for implementation. We demand respect from all duty-bearers for international rules and regulations. Our analysis and demands pay particular attention to the impact of policies on women, children and youth where relevant. In order to strengthen support for our political demands we contribute and belong to a growing worldwide solidarity movement by engaging with and mobilizing the Belgian public. We do this with an effective social media strategy, a strong presence in mainstream media and other awareness raising activities, campaigns and exchanges. We collaborate with academia and relevant Belgian and international civil society networks in order to be more effective.
