General
In the pursuit of a fair, inclusive, sustainable, and equal world, AfricaMuseum strives to bring about transformative societal shifts through culture and to create a global community that is well-informed, engaged, and committed to the shared vision of a sustainable future. Stereotypes and knowledge gaps are challenged while empowering individuals to embrace diversity, support inclusivity, and actively contribute to sustainable societies
Results
Specific objective 6.1 a more profound comprehension and heightened interest in the african continent is promoted through global citizenship education.
Crucial knowledge gaps about central african cultural heritage, belgian-congolese colonial history and climate change are filled and inclusivity is fostered through global citizenship education (gced) and intercultural and intergenerational dialogue in belgium and africa.
Ateliers and workshops for schools, trainings for teachers, family guided tours etc. Are organised, enriched by active collaboration with african diasporas and african institutes, fostering co-creation and a more comprehensive appreciation of african cultures and contributions.
Regular dialogue on colonial history education and on climate change is organised with and between policymakers, government actors, educational actors from belgian civil society - notably from the african diasporas – and belgian youth. This serves to promote increased integration of belgian congolese colonial history and its impact on contemporary belgian society, and human-induced climate change and its impact on the environment and biodiversity, into belgian school curricula through a GCED approach. //
Specific objective 6.2 changes in attitudes to africa and its diasporas are promoted.
Stereotypes, clichés, and representations related to africa and people of african descent are deconstructed while the (re)construction of cultural identities is facilitated.
Cultural facilitators, african artists and journalists in residence are empowered, fostering a network of change-makers for a more inclusive world
