General
Focusing on natural hazards and related risks, the AfricaMusuem´s cooperation programme supports SDG 11.5’s aim to substantially reduce the impact of disasters on human lives, especially among vulnerable populations, and decrease economic losses caused by disasters and natural hazards (Land slides, flooding, volcanic eruptions etc.). Furthermore, it contributes to SDG 13.1 by promoting efforts to enhance resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters globally
Results
Specific objective 3.1: natural hazard assessment is improved and disaster risk for local populations is reduced.
The understanding of natural hazards is enhanced, risk assessment is improved and a foundation for effective mitigation and early warning strategies is provided. This is achieved through effective north-south and south-south partnerships, academic training, citizen science, dialogue between scientists and decision makers, and awareness initiatives
