General

Communities and Red Cross staff and volunteers prevent health hazards and provide care and assistance for health hazards impacting the lives and well-being of the most vulnerable resulting in increased community resilience to health hazards especially for women and children. BRC-Fl has a unique combination of 4 niche expertise areas (First Aid (FA), Blood Banking (BB), WASH and Disaster Preparedness (DP)), each contributing to tackling a set of (non-) communicable, maternal and neonatal diseases or injuries. These expertise areas are complementary to each other and allow our program to address the overall health burden in our target area, resulting in reduced morbidity and mortality, through increased community resilience, especially for women & children. The program focusses on three intervention levels to reach this ultimate goal. First, we’ll focus on prevention and mitigation of health hazards. Second, when the hazard occurred, BRC-Fl will, with its community care intervention level, have empowered communities to take care of themselves and others through First Aid trainings and will support health care workers to provide First Aid Services to the Nduta refugee and host communities. As third intervention level, the TRCS and the national blood service will be reinforced in their capacity to effectively prepare for and respond to health hazards.
