The project in question, titled 'La population, en particulier les femmes, les filles et les personnes vulnerables, a acces a des soins de sante de qualite, repondant a ses besoins', is a health policy and administrative management initiative funded by Enabel, the governmental cooperation of Belgium, in Burundi. The project's objective is to enhance access to quality healthcare services that cater to the needs of women, children, and vulnerable individuals throughout their lifecycle. The project focuses on understanding and addressing gender inequalities that lead to the exclusion of women and girls from healthcare services. It also aims to develop a monitoring tool using the ICAP barometer, a successful approach in other countries, to track advancements in knowledge, attitudes, and practices among rights holders. Moreover, the project seeks to strengthen community participation in health services through structures such as COSA, ASLO, and GASC, and organized groups like associations, clubs, and women's groups. Additionally, there is a focus on improving communication for development (C4D) in healthcare, which is currently underdeveloped. The project will begin with an analysis of the current state of C4D for health in Burundi, leading to the creation of a C4D plan for the duration of the project. Furthermore, the project will provide specific attention to mental health, aligning with output B.4, and will also focus on sensitizing the population about mental health. The project will also support initiatives related to gender-based violence and reproductive health education in schools. Lastly, special consideration will be given to internally displaced persons and refugees, with communication activities being organized by community agents from these populations to provide clear information about healthcare rights, including mental health care.
