General

Het project heeft tot doel de duurzaamheid op lange termijn van fragiele landschappen en ecosystemen in de Malinese Koulikoro-regio te garanderen. Ook zal het project ontbossing en landdegradatie tegengaan met het oog op het verhogen van de veerkracht van de gemeenschap het bijdragen aan conflictpreventie. Concrete doelstellingen i), investeren in klimaatadaptatie en het duurzame beheren van natuurlijke hulpbronnen stimuleren, ii) het ondersteunen van vreedzaam, duurzaam en inclusief bestuur van land, bossen en water, en iii) de veerkracht van gemeenschappen versterken in het licht van de klimaatverandering. Het project bouwt voort op de bestaande klimaat-, vredes- en veiligheidsportfolio van UNDP en de Local Climate Adaptive Living (LoCAL) Facility van UNCDF. The project overall objective is to ensure the long-term sustainability of vulnerable productive landscapes in Mali’s Koulikoro Region through public and community investments in nature-based solutions that simultaneously reverse deforestation, land degradation, strengthen households’, communities’ and local economies’ resilience to climate change impacts and contribute to conflict prevention.

Results

- Reinforce public partnerships and leverage investments in climate change adaption. - Strengthen capacities of local authorities, technical services and communities to address climate-related risks and sustainable management of natural resources in local planning and investments. - Support peaceful, sustainable, and inclusive governance of land, forests, and water. - Strengthen community and household-level resilience, notably for women and youth, amid climate change.
