Project Green Gaza: promotion of green circular economy and green urban areas, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable waste

Pillar 2: Climate & Environment GO: The Palestinian population makes use of the opportunities of a sustainable environment. Intervention 5: Green Gaza SO1 : The conditions of the Palestinian ecosystems and their population are improved by reducing ecological footprint and GHGs emissions through the promotion of green circular economy and green urban areas, focusing on energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable waste management, in the region of Gaza focusing on 1 or 2 selected value chains. The Green Gaza project, as outlined in the Project Profile with COMP_ID: 6817 and INTE_ID: 4103, is a multisector initiative focusing on urban development and management in Palestine (sector 43xxx). The project's objective, as stated in the Enabel description, aims to improve Palestinian ecosystem conditions and population well-being by promoting green circular economy, green urban areas, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable waste management within Gaza. The project also focuses on one or two selected value chains. The Belgian Development Agency (Enabel), under the supervision of DGD, is responsible for coordinating and implementing these objectives, as detailed in the legal agreements between Belgium and Palestine.

Result 1: An enabling environment for green and circular economy is promoted in Gaza Result 2: Sensitization, civic engagement and capacity building of various stakeholders are promoted Result 3: Green and circular economy and entrepreneurship is supported in the construction and demolition waste value chain Result 4: The construction and rehabilitation of resilient, demonstrative and key green investments are supported, such as public buildings, infrastructure and public spaces Result 5: Green cities for women as well as entrepreneurship, green and decent jobs for women and youth are promoted in the selected value chain
