Body

General

Our intervention aims to sustainably achieve joint ecosystem operation) and biological- social-economic ecosystem monitoring of the MAB in Yangambi (YGB) by leveraging local expertise, involving a broad international scientific community, and by using existing world-class infrastructure funded through past DGD initiatives. This is a contribution to the logistical function of a biosphere reserve (research, education, training and long-term monitoring). At the same time, this project will strengthen integrated conservation and development function of the BR by instating a multistakeholder governance structure for the management of the YBR allowing for its population to live in a sustainable way by reinforcing and developing sustainable green economy activities. Organising a sustainable integrated ecosystem functioning and bio-socio- economical ecosystem monitoring of the Man and Biosphere Reserve at Yangambi (YGB) in DR Congo Initiating a multistakeholder governance structure supported by a strong institutional buy-in ensuring that the four integrated functions (conservation, climate science, capacity building and infrastructure) are sustainably implemented.
