General
LoCAL is a UNCDF program that aims to channel climate finance—provided at the international level and allocated to national governments—down to the local government level. The goal is to integrate climate change adaptation into existing planning and budgeting mechanisms and to strengthen them. LoCAL uses performance-based climate resilience grants (PBCRGs), which ensure that climate-related expenditures are programmed and verified at the local level. All of this is supported by technical assistance and capacity-building to improve resilience and resistance to climate change.
Results
Improved capacity of district governments including optimized access to financial resources for adaptation to the negative impacts caused by climate change, especially in the coastal districts of Mozambique. Build resilience of communities, local governance and economies.
