General

Santé de la femme, du nouveau-né, de l’enfant et de l’adolescent The project "Sante de la femme, du nouveau-ne, de l’enfant et de l’adolescent. Sante reproductive" in Senegal falls under the sector of Population & Reproductive Health. Reproductive health care. This project is part of the new Senegal-Belgium Cooperation portfolio for the period 2019-2023, which was built on an analysis of convergence points between Senegal's priorities and those of Belgian cooperation in development. The "Plan Senegal Emergent Phase II" (PSE II 2019-2023) and various sectoral strategic plans, the national policy for territorial management and development, sectoral policy letters, among others, formed the basis of the reflections. Similarly, the new directions set by the Belgian Minister of Cooperation, particularly in terms of support for entrepreneurial agriculture development, private sector growth as a driver of development, and promotion of a rights-based approach – specifically sexual and reproductive health rights – guided the definition of strategic priorities for the new Senegal-Belgium Cooperation portfolio for the period 2019-2023. Digitalization and new technologies, as well as stimulating innovation in the "green" economy sector, were incorporated into the program construction, along with the synergistic involvement of Belgian cooperation actors, including the private sector and public Belgian institutions (peer2peer). The Law of 2013 on Belgian Development Cooperation recognizes that sustainable development ensures a just transition to sustainable methods of production and consumption, promotes gender equality, and guarantees access for the population to essential public goods and services, as well as social protection, including sexual and reproductive health rights and access to information and services in this area. Each woman and each man should also have access to productive work under conditions of freedom, equity, security, and dignity, which implies, among other things, equal opportunities and treatment for all women and men in the workplace. The Decent Work Agenda, as defined by the International Labour Organization (ILO), aims for four strategic objectives, including promoting gender equality in employment and occupation.
