General
The Livestock Master Plan (LMP) aims to increase the production of small livestock and to do so through private sector investors and through small holder farmers in Rwanda. A critical component of the plan is to ensure that the small holders are supported in a way that ensures that they have access to technical assistance and are linked to those adding value and to final markets where their animals (live) or processed products can be sold. INTERVENTION 2. ATTRACT PRIVATE INVESTMENT SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE: ATTRACT PRIVATE INVESTMENT TO DEVELOP A MODERN VALUE CHAIN TO PRODUCE HIGH QUALITY MEAT PRODUCTS AND EGGS TO SUBSTITUTE IMPORT AS WELL AS TO EXPORT
Results
The Promote Private Investment in Pig and Poultry Sector. PI-PPS project, initiated in Rwanda within the Agriculture and Livestock sector, aims to stimulate private investment in pig and poultry production. This intervention is part of a broader cooperation between Belgium and Rwanda, with a focus on the agriculture sector. The specific objective is to attract private investment for developing a modern value chain that produces high-quality meat products and eggs, aiming to substitute imports as well as for export purposes. Enabel, the implementing agency, performs this task under an agreement concluded with the Rwandan government. A steering committee will be established in each sector, chaired by a Rwandan public institution and co-chaired by Enabel, to oversee the implementation of objectives and interventions, provide strategic guidance, validate work plans, financial plans, operations, and financial reports. The project's scope includes creating an environment that encourages private investment in sustainable pig and poultry production, thereby contributing to the agricultural sector's growth and economic development in Rwanda.
