Voor 2021 was in de tweede beheersovereenkomst geen bedrag voorzien. De toekenning van eenzelfde bedrag zoals de voorgaande 2 jaar van 25 miljoen euro geoormerkte code-8 mid-delen aan BIO gebeurde met een wijziging van het tweede beheerscontract (KB).

The Contribution a BIO pour le financement des projets lies au climat is an investment initiative within the framework of international climate policy financing, primarily targeting low-income and lower middle-income countries. This project aims to strengthen and support businesses' capabilities and activities in technical, financial, administrative, social, and environmental sectors, as well as in governance, good governance, and digitalization. The project involves technical assistance aimed at improving the economic, social, and environmental performance of the targeted businesses and conducting studies to determine whether a project is technically feasible and economically viable. The project was established under the Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries (BIO), which was founded by the Belgian State and the Belgian Society for International Investment in 2001. The BIO operates as a joint venture company, with both parties able to participate in its capital and provide various forms of business financing. The project also involves partnerships with specialized businesses experienced in foreign investment or local entrepreneurship, particularly those focused on social economy, in developing countries. The initiative is aligned with the United Nations Economic and Social Council's categorization of countries, which includes low-income, lower middle-income, upper middle-income, and high-income countries. The project aims to support investment funds, holdings, or investment companies exclusively focused on businesses based in the intervention countries, as well as banking and non-banking financial institutions such as commercial banks, microcredit institutions, leasing companies, factoring companies, and insurance companies that provide services to businesses and populations within the intervention countries.
