General

To promote rural development by providing access to energy In order to increase the access to energy, this program will focus on off-grid energy systems in remote rural areas where no grid connection are available. The program will finance electrification systems for community infrastructures and public lighting. Renewable energy installations for private use (household, shops or small enterprises) will be stimulated by subsidies and soft loans through micro-finance systems. In order to increase the sustainability of the energy installations, the program will also provide a management system and technical assistance focused on capacity building through training initiatives, research and development.

Results

To increase access to hydraulic, solar and wind energy for use in off-grid installations in rural areas, by investments in renewable energy systems, stimulation of micro-finance initiatives and institutional capacity building
