General
The project supports an integrated humanitarian response for vulnerable populations in Burundi. It aims to address the immediate food security needs of refugees, returnees and vulnerable host communities affected by displacement, chronic food insecurity and climate-related shocks, while promoting recovery, resilience and social cohesion through a humanitarian-development nexus approach. The intervention covers refugee assistance, lean-season emergency support and conditional assistance linked to livelihood recovery and climate adaptation activities.
Results
Refugees, returnees and vulnerable host communities affected by displacement and climate shocks are able to meet their essential food needs while strengthening their resilience, livelihoods and capacity to cope with future shocks.
Other
The project will contribute to the stabilization of food consumption among refugee populations, reduce reliance on negative coping strategies and maintain access to essential food assistance for highly vulnerable households. Among returnees and host communities, the intervention will improve access to food during periods of heightened vulnerability, support livelihood recovery and strengthen social cohesion through joint participation in activities aimed at increasing resilience to climate shocks and facilitating sustainable reintegration.
