UNDP Crisis Response and Stabilization Package Lebanon

Lebanon is currently experiencing its most severe conflict escalation since the 2006 war, leading to a significant loss of life, injuries, and displacement of over 1.2 million people as of November 4, 2024. This escalation has deepened the cycle of instability and conflict in Lebanon, severely impacting its institutional and economic stability with long-term consequences. The UNDP Crisis Response and Stabilization Package was initiated in response to this crisis, aiming to mitigate the impact on social, economic, and institutional stability. The project is a multi-partner initiative funded by voluntary pluriannual contributions from international organizations, with UNDP as the primary implementing partner. The funding agreement between the Government of Belgium and UNDP outlines the implementation of components aimed at extending basic service delivery, boosting local capacities to manage displacement, providing immediate income generation, and strengthening crisis management and response capacities at national and local levels. The project's objectives are aligned with the United Nations Development Programme's focus on peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and security service provision, aiming to maintain social stability in Lebanon.
