General

The food and livelihood security of the 13.460 housholds in 32 villages in Malangali Division and around and their active participation in local economic development processes is sustained. In Oeganda loopt sinds eind 2003 het BOF-Vredeseilanden project "Sustainable improvement of households livelihoods through increased income and food security in eastern Uganda". Nadat een tussentijdse evaluatie van dit project in januari 2008, naast een aantal goede resultaten, ook een aantal zwakke punten had aan het licht gebracht, werd besloten de projectstrategie te herbekijken en een exit-fase uit te werken.

Results

1) Increased and diversified production and livestock basis through applying newly learned skills on improved farming techniques and increased acces to microfinance services adapted to their needs. 2)Active, independent and sustainable farmer groups have been created in order to obtain better conditions for activities thad improve food and livelihood security. 3) Farmer groups and associations are linked to paraprofessionals, village, ward and district governement levels, other farmer movements and market outlets and are able to influence social and economic processes. 4) Exchange between rural development programms has inspired incomet. 5) Services and capacitybuilding of Trias contributes to the performance improvement of partner organisations to realize the set objectives.
